Cash discount (Skonto) and platform fee - the most important information & questions

This article was revised as part of the T&Cs update effective 1 October 2026 and replaces the article “What does the "cash discount" in my banking data mean?”. It explains the rules on cash discount (Skonto) and the platform fee that apply from that date. If you have read information about the cash discount (Skonto) before, you will find the current version here.

Cash discount (Skonto) and platform fee

Registration and use of the yoummday platform will remain free of charge.

Following the update to our T&Cs effective 1 October 2026, different rules apply depending on the product model:

    • Managed Service: a 2.9% cash discount (Skonto) for early payment
    • Self Service: a 3% platform fee for use of the marketplace

A cash discount (Skonto) or platform fee is only incurred if you carry out projects through the marketplace and generate revenue.

These are two separate rules with different amounts, different reasons and different effective dates. We explain them separately below.

Managed Service - cash discount (Skonto)

Self Service - platform fee

General

Managed Service - cash discount (Skonto)

What is the cash discount (Skonto)?

The cash discount (Skonto) amounts to 2.9% of your payment for Managed Service projects and is automatically taken into account when the payment is processed. The amount is shown separately on your statement and deducted directly from your payment.

Why is the cash discount (Skonto) deducted?

In Managed Service projects, you receive your compensation on the regular payment date, regardless of when the client pays its invoice. This means that we pre-finance the payment and assume the risk of late payment or non-payment. The 2.9% cash discount (Skonto) is charged for this service.

From when and for which projects does the cash discount (Skonto) apply?

The cash discount (Skonto) applies to all services provided (revenue generated) from 1 October 2026 onwards, including under your existing Managed Service projects, if you do not object to the new T&Cs  until 30 September 2026. The cash discount (Skonto) also applies if you object to the new T&Cs within the stated period but subsequently start a new project or a new worktype within an ongoing project.

How is the cash discount (Skonto) calculated?

The cash discount (Skonto) amounts to 2.9% of the compensation amount payable to you.

Example:

  • Compensation: €500.00
  • cash discount (Skonto) (2.9%): €14.50
  • Payment: €485.50

Why does the cash discount (Skonto) now also apply to existing Talents?

Previously, different rules applied depending on the registration date. Under the new T&Cs, the same conditions will apply to all Talents. This makes billing simpler, more transparent and more consistent, while ensuring equal treatment for all Talents.

Self Service - platform fee

What is the platform fee?

The platform fee amounts to 3% of the compensation amount payable to you in Self Service. It is the fee for using the yoummday marketplace in connection with Self Service projects and is taken into account when the payment is processed. You will receive a separate document (invoice) for it.

Why is yoummday introducing a platform fee in Self Service?

Use of the yoummday marketplace has previously been completely free of charge for Talents in Self Service. At the same time, we continuously invest in the platform - in technology, IT security, reliable processing, quality assurance and, above all, the acquisition of new clients. These investments are the reason why the marketplace has grown so strongly in recent years: more clients, more projects and therefore more earning opportunities for Talents.

Operating and developing a secure, high-performing platform involves increasing costs. To continue expanding the marketplace at this level, we are introducing a 3% platform fee in Self Service. This means that we are passing on part of the increased costs. We will continue to bear the larger share ourselves.

A platform fee of this level is common on comparable marketplaces and is moderate by industry standards. Fairness and transparency are important to us:

  • The fee is calculated only on compensation actually paid to you. No revenue means no fee.
  • It is the only fee we charge you in Self Service - there are no hidden additional charges.
  • You remain entirely free to set your prices with clients.

From when and for which projects does the platform fee apply?

The platform fee will only be charged once the billing-related prerequisites are in place. We will announce the start date at least four weeks in advance. We are informing you now because the legal framework is being established through the new T&Cs, which take effect on 1 October 2026.

The platform fee applies to Self Service projects that you take on after the announced start date. From the announced start date, it will also apply to all services provided (revenue generated) under your existing Self Service projects if you do not object to the new T&Cs  until 30 September 2026. The fee also applies if you object to the new T&Cs within the stated period but subsequently start a new project or book a new worktype within an ongoing project. No platform fee will be charged retrospectively for services provided and billed before the announced start date.

How is the platform fee calculated?

The platform fee amounts to 3% of the compensation amount payable to you.

Example:

  • Compensation: €500.00
  • Platform fee (3%): €15.00
  • Payment: €485.00

General

Does using yoummday now cost money?

No. Registration and use of the yoummday platform will remain free of charge. A cash discount (Skonto) or platform fee is only incurred if you carry out projects through the marketplace and receive a payment. If you do not carry out any projects, you will not incur any costs.

Does this also apply to my ongoing projects?

Yes - but only to services provided (revenue generated) from 1 October 2026 onwards and only if one of the following applies:

  • You do not object to the new T&Cs  until 30 September 2026; or
  • you start a new project or a new worktype within an ongoing project (for example, by agreeing to a new or amended service description).

Services provided and billed before 1 October 2026 remain unaffected - nothing will be charged retrospectively.

For Self Service projects, the platform fee will only be charged after we have announced the start date at least four weeks in advance.

What happens if I object?

If you object to the new T&Cs  until 30 September 2026, the existing terms will continue to apply to your ongoing projects. However, you may only start new projects or new worktypes if you accept the new T&Cs. Both you and yoummday may terminate the platform-use agreement with 30 days’ notice.

Why is there no platform fee in Managed Service?

Because yoummday has a different role in the two models. In Self Service, you enter into a contract directly with the client, while yoummday provides the marketplace: access to clients, matching, invoicing and payment processing. The platform fee is the price for this use. Managed Service works differently: here, you enter into the project contract with yoummday. yoummday manages delivery towards the client and is your contractual partner for the project. In this model, yoummday earns its revenue on the client side. As no separate marketplace service is provided to you for entering into a contract with the client, no platform fee is charged in Managed Service.

Is the platform fee the same as the 2.9% I pay in Managed Service?

No, they are two completely different things. The platform fee (3%, Self Service only) is the price for using the marketplace. The 2.9% in Managed Service is a cash discount (Skonto) for early payment: yoummday pays your compensation on the 18th of the following month, before the client has paid yoummday. This means that yoummday pre-finances the payment for you and bears the risk if the client pays late or not at all. The 2.9% is charged for early payment. In doing so, yoummday assumes the pre-financing and non-payment risk. It is therefore not a fee for using the marketplace.

Will I have to pay a total of 5.9% if I work on both a Self Service and a Managed Service project?

No. The two amounts are not added together and never apply to the same earnings.

Earnings from a Self Service project are subject to the 3% platform fee. Earnings from a Managed Service project are subject to the 2.9% early payout deduction. If you work in both project models, only the applicable charge is applied to the respective earnings.

Why are the amounts for the two services different?

The two amounts cannot be compared directly because they cover different services. The 3% in Self Service pays for use of the marketplace. The 2.9% in Managed Service pays for early payment and the associated risk assumed by yoummday. Each amount is set for the relevant service and applies only in the model in which that service is actually provided.

Important: The two amounts are never charged at the same time. In Self Service, you only pay the platform fee; in Managed Service, you only pay the cash discount (Skonto).

Can I avoid the cash discount (Skonto) or platform fee?

The cash discount (Skonto) (Managed Service) and platform fee (Self Service) are fixed components of the respective billing models. We cannot offer individual special terms. Both are calculated only on revenue from services that has actually been earned and paid out. If you do not carry out any projects or generate any revenue, you will not incur any costs. If you do not wish to accept the new terms, you may object to them by 30 September 2026; in that case, the consequences described in the announcement will apply.

Which rule applies to my project?

The rule that applies to your project depends on whether it is a Self Service or Managed Service project.

Managed Service

→ 2.9% cash discount (Skonto)

Self Service

→ 3% platform fee (once introduced)

You can find out how to tell the difference here:

Will my payment date change?

No. Payments will continue to be made on the regular payment date as before. If that date is not a business day, the payment will be made on the next business day.

Where can I find the amounts in my billing documents?

The cash discount (Skonto) is shown separately on your statement and reflected accordingly in your financial transactions.

You will receive a separate document (invoice) for the platform fee. We will provide further information about its presentation and billing in good time before the platform fee is introduced.

Why were the T&Cs changed at all?

We have revised and standardised our T&Cs. Our aim is to apply uniform contractual terms to all Talents in future and to distinguish the rules for Self Service and Managed Service clearly and transparently. At the same time, individual provisions have been explained more clearly and adapted to the current processes on the platform.
