What Is the IGEL UD Pocket Used For?

This article is only relevant if you are active in a project that requires the use of an IGEL USB Stick (IGEL UD Pocket).

The IGEL UD Pocket contains a Linux-based operating system. When you start your computer from the USB stick, it provides a work environment that is completely independent of your personal operating system.

When used, the IGEL UD Pocket boots IGEL OS on your computer. It does not make any changes to the operating system already installed on your device. The entire operating system runs directly from the USB stick.

Using your computer's Boot Menu, you can choose whether to start:

  • Your regular operating system, or
  • IGEL OS from the IGEL UD Pocket

This allows your personal hardware and project work environment to remain completely separate.

In addition, the IGEL UD Pocket makes it easier to implement and comply with the security requirements specified by individual clients, helping to provide a secure and controlled working environment.
