In this article we will explain some of the most commonly used terms or abbreviations
Have you always wondered what outbound actually means? You can't understand the term webphone? No problem! We would like to unravel the mystery and here’s a list of the most commonly used terms and abbreviations:
B2B: short for "business to business"; this describes all business models in which a company primarily or even exclusively sells goods or services to other companies and not to private individuals. An example of this is a mechanical engineering company whose products can only be purchased by companies.
B2C: short for "business to customer"; this refers to all business models in which a company primarily or exclusively sells goods or services to private individuals as end customers. An example of this is a regular supermarket.
Billing address: refers to the location from which a company or private individual issues an invoice. The billing address can be different from your work address if necessary.
Compensation: describes the fee you receive from a client for your work. In telephony, compensation is often according to seconds, minutes or hours. In projects with a written component, a lump sum is often paid per final document. It is best to talk to your potential client during the negotiation phase about which systems are used there.
Customer service: any undertaking that aims to serve customers before or after they purchase a product or service. One result of good customer service is the satisfaction of a company's clientele.
Dashboard: a dashboard is a user interface on which the most important information and control options for a task are summarized. As soon as you log in with your account after onboarding on yoummday, you can access the talent dashboard, for example, which you can use to make phone calls to most clients after successful application and training. You can also keep an eye on your finances via your dashboard.
Discord: Discord is a communication platform that some projects like to use for news, training and daily exchange. You can download and install Discord at the following link: https://discord.com/download.
Gross: Italian, translates as "raw"; amount without deduction of taxes. In supermarkets, prices often already include VAT and are therefore gross prices.
Inbound: inbound describes the type of telephony where customers themselves call and are not actively called. A classic example of inbound telephony is a customer hotline.
Incentive: often used to describe bonus or other incentive schemes aimed at rewarding good performance within a project. Not every project has such arrangements.
Lead: in sales professions, a lead refers to a promising option for a sale. Leads can be, for example, inquiries that potential customers make themselves on a website.
Microsoft Teams: a communication program through which one can exchange information with other users. Some clients use this for day-to-day communication or to disseminate news.
Net: Italian, translated: "pure, unmixed"; amount after deduction of taxes. In other words, the price of a good before, for example, value-added tax is added.
Onboarding: a start-up phase in which one learns the most important details about a system or a task. At yoummday, we refer to the initial meeting as onboarding, where you and your onboarding manager review important documents and your address. Onboarding is the prerequisite for you to apply for projects.
Onboarding Manager: people who check with you in an onboarding appointment after your application whether all your necessary documents for a start on the platform are available.
Operations Manager: people who take over the management of a project on behalf of a customer.
Outbound: describes the type of telephony in which customers are called and do not actively call themselves. A classic example of outbound telephony is lead-based sales. Here, customers mostly make inquiries and are called by consultants.
Sales: this describes all business activities that revolve around the sale of goods or services. This can be, for example, an initial meeting with a prospective customer or a sales consultation.
Skype: an instant messaging program that allows people to communicate with like-minded users via direct messages. In some cases, clients use this program for daily exchanges or for sharing news.
Slack: a communication program used in some projects for exchanging or sharing news.
Softphone: any telephony software that can work with the SIP protocol. You can use such software instead of the yoummday webphone if needed.
Talent: the term we use at yoummday for all freelancers on the platform. Why don't we call it freelancer? Because we are happy that you provide your talents as a freelancer to clients on the platform.
Talent Support: a separate department at yoummday, which aims to help freelancers with questions or problems on the platform. You can reach the Talent Support via ticket at the following link: https://talent.yoummday.com/help
Ticket: if you as a talent make a request via the help function (https://talent.yoummday.com/help), the talent support receives information with the data you provided. The whole process is called a ticket, a kind of documentation of your request.
TTL: short for "Talent Team Lead"; people who are, for example, your contacts for technical issues on behalf of platform customers within a project.
Webphone: yoummday's self-developed telephony solution, with which you can accept calls from customers or initiate calls to customers in telephony projects. You'll find the webphone at the top center of the screen on every page of your talent dashboard.
VPN: short for "Virtual Private Network"; a VP network is used to access Internet resources through an intermediary server. In some cases, this type of VPN protection is used by clients for secure access to customer systems.
Work address: means the place from which you work. As a freelancer, you decide where your work takes place. You can also store multiple work addresses in your talent account. Your work address can be different from your billing address, but it does not have to be.
Worktype: this describes what kind of project it is. A Worktype can be, among others, Outbound Sales (sales and customers are called) or Inbound Customer Service (customer advice and customers call themselves).
ymmd / yoummday: short for "you made my day", pronounced you-m-day; that's us and we're glad you're with us. 😊
